On The Plane

I'm gonna time stamp this since I won't be able to publish until I'm on a wifi connection.

9:57PM 29 June.

On the plane heading to London for my conencting flight to Accra. Walking through the airplane to get to my seat I passed what I persumed to be first class. I later learned that that was only business class and if that is the case then I am really curious as to what first class looks like. Lol. Business class was designed so that every seat had it's own little compartment that was divided from the seat next to you. Also, most of the seast were stagered so that one was never directly next to another. Must be nice compared to where I'm sitting now. Which is the 3rd in a four seat row. 1 seat in from the isle on my right and 3 in from my left. Woman to my left won't stop crossing the arm rest either. Her arm is totally touching mine and I ahve my elbows tucked into my side to type, so there is defintely no reason for that! Ha. Oh well...

More on this woman actually: she's from India and was in Boston visiting her son. She was talking to a gentleman in our row of seats which is how I found out this information. She is a professor in Northern India. I became interested in her while eavesdropping in her conversation she had with this man. As it turns out he asked her if he could sit on the isle, where she was currently sitting (that was actually my seat, but whatever). He has a medical condition which makes him urinate frequently. And he asked to sit on the end to accomodate his frequent trips to the bathroom. This started their conversation of ways to make the bathroom urge go away. She told him about pressure spots used in accupunture that help with such urges. She also informed that it is very good for the body to rub your hands and feet when you first wake up in the morning. It releases positive energies. She seemed to be very in tuned with spiritual practices and her words about ways you yourself are capable to make your body feel good were uplifting.

So woman from India is talking to gentleman to her left (I am to her right) and it turns out that he is on his way to Lebadon. His family is from there but when he was a child his family moved to Boston. He told her that half his family is still in Lebadon including his sisters. Furthermore, this is his first trip back to see them in 24 years. Wow. Can you imagine? 24 years without seeing some one as close to you as your sister. He is a manager of a Blockbuster Video Store and was saying that he'd love to travel more if it weren't so expensive. He is also an aspiring writer - columns and short stories. Currently though, he is writing about the fact taht it's been 24 years since he's been to Lebadon and just as long since he's seen his sisters. Even if it doesn't get published - I'd read it.

On a different note, I took a malaria pill before getting on the plane and I guess I didn't take it with enough water, because it got loudged in my throat. Eeek! All better now though because I am sipping on some cranberry juice.

Ok. I'm gonna try to sleep now but, Indian lady put her purse on my tray which was holding my cranberry juice. Hmm... personal space laws are not global.

  1. uh oh, Malaria pill, ambien and alcohol? Substance abuse!

I like that you called it Ambeon - the band that Arjen had that was ambient + Ayreon.
